RO/DI for initial setup

I seem to recall quite a while ago that it was recomended to NOT use the Dion Resin filter when creating water for your 'initial' setup.

Initial fill - take out DI cartridge
Top off - Use DI cartridge

Is this correct?

Nope. That doesn't make any sense at all IMO. You want the purest water you can get at all times IMO.

Maybe they meant discard the first batch of water your RO/DI makes? That makes sense, especially from a new RO unit. Just guessing now.

Per Melev's ro/di instructions.
"DO NOT USE THE FIRST 3 TO 5 GALLONS OF WATER THAT THE SYSTEM MAKES. THIS WATER CONTAINS FOOD GRADE PRESERVATIVES THAT ARE BEING FLUSHED FROM THE SYSTEM"

Question

Cant remember exactly, but I think the 'argument' was that the initial water used needs some of the minerals" electrolites?? that the deionizing takes out, while the evaporated water replacement needs to be pure as these minerals are not depleated through evaporation...

Oh well...
