couple equipment questions

hey, has anyone used a coralife protein skimmer? i was looking at the 125 gal needlewheel for use on a 55 gal with a sump.

also, i have the chance to get a 55 gal clarity plus acrylic tank from a friend for cheap... is that a good brand? how are acrylic tanks, anything to watch out for?

i have not personally used one of the coralife skimmers, but i have hear alot of great things about them. the only complant i have herd about is it causes microbubbles if you use it as a HOT. if you use in a sump you wont notice them. i am looking to get their largest one myself.

the only downsides to acrylic tanks i know of is they scratch REAL easy, and the price. sounds like you have the price part taken care of.

anyone else? why are microbubbles bad? the search isn't working, otherwise I wouldn't ask such a n00b thing. I've done freshwater before, but always had a hang on filter, so this is new territory.

the google search works 24/7 http://www.reefcentral.com/search.php?s=&menu=11

the microbubbles can gather under rocks, causing air pockets. that can be bad for the LR. other than that i dont know of any unwanted effects of microbubbles.

I have a CSS 220 for my 72 bow. Works great. I actually have it hanging on my sump with the outflow to the sump before filters. No micro problem at all!
