i had a bad algea outbreak while my tank was/is cycling. i established a clean up crew, but as they cleaned a lot of the algea fell off the rocks and now surrounds them on the sand. how should i remove all the dirty sand?

You'll probably want a few snails that will clean the sand for you. A few cerith might fit the bill. Can you post a picture of the algae in question?
