Not all shrimps are safe.. Harlequin shrimp will eat your starfish... IMO that is not safe... especially if you have a starfish... LOL....

A pic might help identify if your are safe (most are)

yup, we'll need a pic. there's quite a few shrimp that aren't reef safe.

Even the reef safe ones are known to pick at clams.

Most shrimps are omnivores and prefer meat over greenies. I wouldn't characterize that as reef safe.

Hi Guys

Here are some pictures of the shrimps I am talking. Sorry for the bad pictures, my camera sucks. The shrimp is transparent and spotted orange or dark orange.

Today I feed them some pieces of shrimps, and they ate it. I can see some of them eating even algae.

Please guys give me some info about these shrimps, name etc. Also tell me if they are safe.

Thanks alot.

Your pics are blurry, so they make ID difficult. Could those be mysis shrimp?

Is there some behavior you have observed which makes you worry that they are not reef safe?

If I am not wrong mysis shrimps live in lakes so for they are not.
These shrimps were collected from the mediterrenean sea, and they live near the shore.

They are transparent, or whiteish colour with brown/orange dots or lines

Any info would be appreciated or a link with different shrimps to view so maybe I will find this species there.

Thanks

Mysis I believe are freshwater, Mysid are saltwater, regardless I don't think that is what these are. How big are the shrimp? Are they out during the day or are they nocturnal? In order to Id them, need a better pic. can you try again for a pic, does you camera have a macro mode, so that you can get closer that the normal focusing distance.

Ok, I think here is the guy.

I searched through internet about Glass Shrimp and found this picture that honestly it looks similar to the shrimps I have.

The only thing that is doubt, is that I ve read that these are freshwater shrimps not salt ? Am I wrong guys ?

Mine for sure are salt ones lol, and really are the same as this picture above.

Any help pleasee?

No it is not a white shrimp for sure.

I think it is a ghost shrimp or Amano shrimp. But guys to they live in the mediterranean sea ? I am saying this because that was the sea from where they have been collected

So what are my shrimps ? They look similar to the ghost shrimp but if ghost are freshwater ones for sure they are not like the ones I have.

Where are the pros that could identify this shrimp ?

Thanks
