Filter Setup Question

I am new to this hobby and in the process of setting up a 90 gal. FOWLR system.
I have found a used Amircle wet dry, that measures 24x12x14 w/ overflow. I am going to use a Magdrive 12. In using the head loss calculator off of the home page, it looks like I'll get a flow of 729 GPH. And if I go with three exits into the tank, the flow drops to 659 GPH.

My quesiton is, will one overflow box, I believe it has a 1 inch drain, and my wet dry be able to handle the flow? If not, would adding a second overflow be a good idea? Or should I add a ball valve to cut down on the flow?

Thanks in advance for any guidance provided!

you should be fine. i drove about 800GPH through the stock 1" BH on my AGARR 90. put a durso in the overflow and never had a problem in over 4 years with it.

OK, thanks for confirming on the flow. Also, do you see any issue with putting a skimmer in the sump ... note, I won't have any bio balls or filter material in here since I have 90 lbs. of mature LR in my tank. I want to make sure I am not creating an overflow situation.

no. i ran a beckett skimmer in my sump. look at my website, you'll see the filtration there. i had bio balls in my sump, but only as bubble diffusers. they were submerged, so they weren't performing a "wet/dry" duty.

OK, great pic's of your tank .... I'm impressed ... great looking reef!

A couple of more questions from the newbie here:

what's a durso in the overflow mean? i googled on the subject, but didn't find a good description.

Also, are there any commercial skimmers that you'd recommend?Either sits inside my sump our outside the sump? Again, I am setting up a 90 gal. FOWLR system.

http://www.dursostandpipes.com/

for the money, ASM skimmers perform really well. probably a G2 or G3 would do you well.
