Some people have a hard time with Xenia, and there doesn't seem to be any explanation. I haven't had the problem, so I can't speak from experience.

What corals are in the tank, and what are the water parameters?

I am at the point where I actually wish I had this problem. Last october, I put one small sprig of Xenia in my tank. Its completely taking over the top of my reef & seems to be trying to light starve everything beneath it on my reef structure. If my clowns didn't like it, it already be gone! But I've seen this haapen at my own supplier of corals. Who knows what this stuff really likes??

Eric Borneman, in his book, says he's noticed that Xenia do better in a not so perfect tank. Your parameters might have gottent too clean for them.
