Help me choose skimmer for tight space
I am currently using a CPR dual bakpak skimmer and I want something that will perform a little better. I also want to get it underneath my tank, however space is very limited. There is not room in my sump but I would like to hang a skimmer onto the side(and) of my sump. One of my concerns is the fact that the water level is about 6" below the top of the sump. I was thinking about one of the Coralife Super Skimmers but I don't know if they can fit my set up. Will the pump hang low enough to reach the water level and perform ok?
Here is a picture of the space I have to work with. [IMG][/IMG] Any suggestion would be appreciated. FYI- my tank is a 65 gal mixed reef that I want to start converting to mainly sps. |

I put an aqua-c remora and extended the pump tubing and it worked great on the back of my sump. My water level is also about 6" lower. I ended up moving it into the sump in case I forget to empty the cup and it over flows as it did when I first put in liverock, I guess the die-off caused it to catch a lot more stuff.

System has total water volume of around 70 gallons so I don't think a nano skimmer would work. I'm really wanting to buy a skimmer large enough to use when I upgrade to a 120g in the future. Thanks.

I know on my coralife skimmer I used a tube to make it go into the water more since my water level is like yours.. I just don't know of the pump will fit in such a small spot. BTW I have the super skimmer 65 on my 46 gallon.

If you got the cash, Deltec has a nice HOT skimmer...MCE600 would have to check dimensions to see if it would fit.

Aqua C Remora, runs great, and very slim.
