I have gotten it shipped that way before and also wrapped with some wet newspaper. Do you have any premixed saltwater already made up? You can swish the rocks around in the water and remove the styrofoam bits as they float. It will also help to clean the rocks up a little before placing in your tank or curing container..

thank you... i have been swishing as you suggested in a seperate tank... i have tonga rock and it has many deep holes and caves... so beautiful... my smallest rock is 20lbs. i guess the question i should be asking is if i cant get it all out will it be okay to put it in my tank? i have nothing in my tank right now im just getting ready to cycle the rock but i'm very worried this could harm my tank somehow later on down the road if i dont get every little bit of styrofoam out.. sorry im a newbie and i want to do it as proper as possible the first time around..

I'd put it in the display anyway. Any styro you cant get off will float. Try scrubbing it off with a NEW toothbrush!
Good Luck! And how about posting some pics of that Tonga!
