20k wont harm coral, all it does is make them look better.
however, it will reduce the amount of usable radiation delivered to them. and make them grow less- thats all..... however, you will need to change the bulb more often than 10k.

According to my opinion 20000 K is too Blue, when the bulb is new. Try with 14000 K or 15000 K MH bulbs.

I have 150w 20k bulbs on my 18" high 60g. I have a mixed reef with sps, lps, and softies. I love the way 20k bulbs make the corals seem to glow. yes, my coral growth is slower, but i think it's worth it.
