Stocking New Tank, 180gal - Help (pics)
Now that my tank is setup and cycled I would like to start stocking it. All I know right now is that I want to have corals and fish. I already have 3 small Blue Chromis in it for 1 week now and would like to get a few Clown Fish (Nemo's) tonight if cool. Would it be OK to get 2 or even 3 for now? I see them in a lot of reef tanks thats why I thought it would be ok.
Also, where's a good website I can go to research on fish/corals on what can I and can't have together. I'm going to order a cleanup crew in another week or 2, once the tank looks like it needs some help with cleaning. Its been up for only 2 weeks now. I also did a 15% water change this past weekend. Believe it or not it cycled in just 3 or 4 days. Had the 220lbs of Live Rock in large container for 3+ months while I built the stand/canopy and set everything up. It already has a lot of Hair/Grass looking algae and I was told Sponge Filters. Here's a pic, still working on things- (180gal w/ 40L gal sump/ soon to be refuge) Here's a earlier photo too- http://www.partydamage.com/fishtank/09.jpg Last edited by Brent Thomann; 02/01/2006 at 10:10 AM. |

Now what about feeding these little guys? When I bought the Blue Chromis (LFS) the guy sold me a can of Omega Marine Flakes and said to feed them once a day and thats what I've been doing. Now I see a lot of people use some type of frozen food? Does it really matter. Please Help! I would like to do what ever is easiest and inexpensive. th best food for them is formula 2 flake or frozen....cyclopeeze(in your LFs freezer it should be a red bar)
theres also mysis shrimp, baby brine shrimp and brine shrimp which are frozen foods as well. these are all fine for them.

Definatly no more than 2 Clowns..I tried 4 in my 125 and had to remove two due to fighting. I am sure I would have ended up with a couple dead Clowns
I would feed Cycloopeeze once a day while their small. I also fed mine Frozen Dapnia. My Clowns would not eat anything else when they were small...Now they eat everything!!

One observation...
It looks like your powerheads are undersized for a 180. I'd look at SEIOs or Streams. You're fish will enjoy playing in the current, and your corals will also. |

ledford1.. I just through those in there until I figure out what I was going to use. Thanks for the look out though! I'm actually putting together 3 possible 4 maxi-stream mods. Got the parts in the mail today. Was going to hook them up to a Wavemaster Pro I got real cheap in the For Sale Forum. |
