Salifet Test Kit

I've tried and tried using this kit. I always get a reading of 0.00 in readings per ml ! It says to put the tip on snugly - I use all my might but it does leave a gap which i assume is part of calculations. does every one have a gap ?

Everyone has a gap. It says right in the instructions that you will have a gap. You did not say what test, so I'm assuming you're talking about the small syringe with the plastic fitting to draw test fluid for either Calcium, Magnesium, Alkalinity, Phosphate, or a number of others.

I think I know what your talking about yeah I have always had a gap between the green tip and the the end of the syringe.

As for the reading's you are getting what are you testing for?

I had a similar problem when I first stated testing my KH/Alk It was so high that I would put in 1ml of solution and the colour never changed. Then I found out that I needed to refill the 1ml syringe and keep adding until it changes colour and then add the two results together.

this was for calcium, i ran out of solution in the syringe bringing me to 0.00 so i assume im over 500 ppm. btw the newer PH kit is much easier (Salifert for both) but my PH seemed to be over 8.5 off scall as well.
