AnyOne Ever Use This light As A Refugium Lamp

im going to buy the light below ,i read a ton of a 54 page thread on this light but i just purchase this light above tonight before i read the thread about this bulb below, make sense LoL im stupid. but anyway feedback feedback im interested in.

You don't need that metal reflector if you use that bulb, dirtyvegas. That may trap heat around the ceramic base of the bulb, and overheat it. The bulb has an internal reflector that works perfectly.

OO i cee what your saying, i didnt realize that the picture had his old light,thought it was the new one. this is not my tank just another of RC members using the grow light above.

I use the flood lamp. In three months, my "gallon bag" clump of chaeto has tripled in size! Nitrates always zero. Nuisance algae minimal. Great buy for the price.

Only problem I have is that damn bulb is so heavy, that it always falls and points straight down. Maybe I just need a new one or some duct tape.

I was looking at that bulb too, but the k rating is low if I remember. I'm using a screw type bulb like that, but not in it's own reflector. It's 27 watts and produces 100 watts of light with a K rating of 5500k.....works great and bright. I even keep SPS frags up high under them.
