Is 11.2 watts per gallon too much?
I'm about to set up a 5 gallon tank and I found some lights that are (2) 28 watt bulbs 6700K.
Would this be too much? They will be approximately 6" off of the water and there will also be a fan blowing over the water so heating is not a problem. |

what will your 5g be used for?56 total watts is relativly{-}for most animals, and evaporation/water peramator changes in 5g are tremendous!(I know because i use 1-4 emergency quarintine tank)

Watts per gallon is not very useful. A clam for instance is going to need intense lighting no matter if it's in a 5 gal or a 500 gal. It's more of an issue of depth than gallons. But, to answer your question, no it's not too much light.

IMO not too much at all as long as heat and evaporation do not become an issue.
