Cheato keeps dying?

I have tried two different patches of cheato and both of them have died after like 3 weeks. My tank is new (about a month or so old) and i am still having cyano outbreaks and another type of dark green algae in my sump, could these two algaes be eating up all the nutrients? I am also skimming but not that heavy, what are some ways to reduce the other algaes so the cheato does not keep dying? also i am thinking about getting a different type of macro, what would be better than cheato?

Nothing. I assume it's in a sump or fuge. You may need different lighting; cheap lighting often works very well.
