Unhappy Feeling Green

I set up a 35 gallon kind of like a hospital tank about 6 months ago, to put some corals from my upstairs tank that were being picked over by some of my fish. All I have in this tank are 3 snails, 1 tired sun polyp, 1 half eaten green star polyp, and 1 ricordia. On boxing day I purchased a stronger light and 4 live plants that are called "shaving brush" About 2 weeks ago the tank started going green, just the water, there was no algae on the glass or anywhere else. It has gradually gotten worse, I cut the time on the lights down, and still it is green.
Could it be the shaving brush plants that are doing this, I'm thinking of taking them out.
So since January only 2 things have gone into this tank, the light and the shaving brush. Any ideas.
Params. are normal.
Thanks Andy

I have had issues like this. For me a UV sterilizer fixed it in a few days.
