to glue or not to glue?

im preparing for corals in the next few months and i want to make sure i do everything correctly

about glue, do i have to glue a coral to lr? what if i dont glue it what will happen? and what if i do glue it and the coral dies how hard is it to get the glue off without taking out the live rock? (i dont want to mess with my lr i have it positioned perfectly lol)

you dont haveto glue it down. it is ussually done because of other factors. as other readers can attest to a frag that keeps getting knocked over by snails of hermits is annoying so we glue it. if you dont glue it down it wont be in any harm . unless it is being toppled over alot. this disturbance can be bad for a coral if continously. if yours are not being distured or moved then no biggie. leave em. but after months they may anchor themselves to the rock with growth. natural way to attach! overall its only done to ensure the coral doesnt move from other inhabitants knocking it over. thats it.

also it can be hard to remove them once glued down but some times can be removed with force. but what most people do is attach the coral to a small rock that has enough wieght to keep it stable then they place it on the lr. this helps keep the frag from being pushed around and you can remove it when you want to change terrain. but even then a coral grows and even if not glued down may attach for good on its own.
