My sand question

Ok so I finally added my sand and LR. The tank is only half full of premixed saltwater, until I get more tomorrow night. My question is

The sand so far is about 3-4 inches deep, and its the southdown play sand. Its very easy to move it, like its barely sitting there. One swipe with my hand and it goes all over.
Will it settle in more? Like get tighter packed in? Or should I try to pack it myself lol.

Teg is gone. That was a first high school car and it got what was commign to it. It was stolen and striped. Had carbon fiber front end, b16 with minor bolt ons, and few other givins, intake exhaust, short shift, lowered. Its all about bikes now. Cars are to slow to race.

To keep fine sands on the bottom, you can add some bigger grained sand on top--

I use Caribsea special grade aragonite reef sand for my shallow sand bed-- it has 1-2mm grain sizes-- stays down fine--- you could get some of this to go on top

If you have a mixture of sands, the larger grain will end up on top over time...

the idea of fine (sugar grade) is to provide more surface area for denitrification...putting the heavier sand on top should not affect it.

Also regarding this sand... I have used it in 2 tanks.. the first time I replaced my substrate, drained, removed old and replaced--- I was careful to not stir up the sand when adding new water-- had virtually no clouding issues-- just a slight tint to the water-- was clear the next morning...

The 2nd time was in setting up my 135... It was 2/3 full of water and I just poured in the sand-- it clouded up for several days but was only real bad for about a day...

I'm just relating my experience if you use this... If you are careful in adding it, it shouldn't cloud up too much....

Ok sounds good. Ive noticed If I stir it up myself, it settles down mostly in a day on its own.

Bikes arent all that fast lol. I race bikes depending on their size. Im shooting for 11's now in my hatch in the next month or so!!!
