Bio Balls or Fluidize Bed Filter?

Can anyone tell me what would be better?

6-7 Gal of Bio Balls in the sump

or

Large Fluidize Bed Filter - such as the Lifeguard #900 hanging in the sump.

So what your saying the Lifeguard 900 should be able to provide more biological filtration? I wonder if the bio balls would produce MORE nitrates than the fluidized bed?

I would rather go with the FB filter so I can use the bio ball chamber in my sump for mechanical filtration (filter pads)

The Lifeguard worked really well on a FOWLR tank I had a few years ago. Did a great job in much less space than bio balls did on earlier tanks.

I still have the little lifeguard around, so I'm going to try it out as a phosban reactor.
