Overskimming a problem?
Is overskimming a problem? Most hobbiest dose trace elements anyway, so whats so bad??

I don't think it's possible to over skim. You do your water changes and can replenish any lost trace elements. Most hobbyist replace calcium and alkalinity because their corals take it up, not that their skimmer removes it.

I think it depends on corals. People who run barebottom SPS tanks run them with huge skimmers to ensure low nutrients. However, LPS need some nutrients. I might be talking out of my butt. So, wait to hear from others.

i dont think it can be done ether. but i think you will find that most people DONT dose trace elements

I turn my skimmer off at night when the lights go off, does anyone elso do the same?

Most of the time there is nothing in the cup in the morning so I figured why waste the electricity. I have a nautilus ex skimmer what do you think of them?

I have noticed my skimmers don't produce much skimmate at night but I leave them on for aeriation. You can set your skimmer to have too much clear water but if set to give you medium dark skimmate I don't think you can overskim.
