Question Used Lights & Clean-up Crew Questions

Hi there,

I have had my tank set up for about 3 weeks. I used all LS & LR from an established tank and have never had any measurable NH3 or NO2. NO3 is 10. The LR has tons of feather dusters and clams, some veremitid snails and a few small 'shrooms. They are all doing fine. I added 2 hermits after 5 days and a chromis 3 days ago. Neither caused any change in my parameters.

I want to add to my clean-up crew. I think I would like some more hermits and a few cleaner shrimp. Besides the 2 hermits I bought I have one big snail and a bunch of small snails. How many do you think that I could safely add at one time?

I'm also looking a purchasing a used Coralife 2x65 PC. It has a fan but no lunar lights. The bulbs are 1 year old so I think they would need to be replaced pretty soon. The seller says to make him an offer. What would be a fair price?

Thanks.

I'd replace the bulbs right away. PC bulbs IMO are only good for 6-10 months depending on the photo cycle. Seeing as though your going to be having some sort of algae blooms in the near future those old bulbs will just magnify them. I'd offer $100 for the fixture depending on exactly what model it is. Your gonna spend around $50 on bulbs.
