Good Skimmer vs. Ozone recommendations

I have a dilemma I was wondering if you could give me your insight on. My pump just went out on a Won HOB skimmer I have. So, now I'm faced with a couple options. I could buy another $30 pump and keep going with what I have although I hardly ever collect anything with this skimmer. Or, I could get an ASM skimmer and redo my sump so that I run the return pump externally and put the skimmer in the sump (right now I can't fit an in-sump skimmer). This however would be quite a project. Or, I could upgrade my skimmer to a HOB Coral life Super Skimmer. Lastly, I could go with the cheap skimmer and then invest the rest of the money in a Ozonizer. Any thoughts or suggestions? I have a 65g tank with a 20g sump/refugium.

Well if you're not collecting much skimmate, I'd recommend getting the better skimmer (ASM). It should give you an immediate performance improvement without spending extra on an ozonizer.

I don't think adding ozone to a crappy skimmer will give you much of a boost. Kind of like putting lipstick on a pig

You could always add the ozonizer at a later time.

In other words, improve your base skimming performance now and then supercharge it later.

coral life and ozone.

can hang CSS on the side of the sump, to keep all the stuff out of the display. thats what i do. i also have a 36" tank w/ a 20g sump and i have enuf room under my stand for skimmer hanging on the side of the sump.

that's what I've been considering. I guess now my main question is: does the CSS do as good a job as the ASM skimmer? That's probably a loaded question.

If I went with the Corallife Super Skimmer for a 65g tank should I get the 125 or the 220? Is the 220 overkill?

would you mind measuring the footprint for me and see if it's exactly what their site says? Is there any room for adjustment? All I need is an extra 3/4".
