Flatworms and flatworm exit
Do Flatworms become immune to flatworm exit? I have an outbreak of them and last week put some into my tank.
However I have some stragglers and was wondering if they become immune to it? |

I jsut used it also and I had the same prob, You must shake off the rock in a separate rinse (SW) to loosen worms within the rock. I think you are supposed to trea 2-3 X's also.

i would treat your tank again, and double the dose. it'll be fine as long as you suck out the dead FW's.

If Iwas you I would Be real carefull useing chemicals against them when they die they let out a toxin that can kill fish and other living creatures in your tank if you got the population knocked down get acouple nuedibranches and asix line wrasse and they should take care of the problem.

I've used the stuff before and it worked great. But.....when I used it last week many fw died which I knew would happen except now I have some fw that aren't dying when I put the flatworm exit in.
And trust me they are flat worms. Any suggestions |

well, like i said, up the dosage. when i had a FW infestation i dosed with FWE twice. the first time i dosed with 2x what the instructions said (2 drops per gallon), and a week later i did a second dose and dosed 3x (3 drops per gallon). another thing to do is get some airline tube, and put a filter sock on the end of it, drop the end with the filter sock in your sump or in a buck, start a siphon and suck out as many FW's as you can. i did this for every day for a week before i did my first treatment to make sure the dead FW's didn't foul up my tank too much.
if that another strong does of FWE doesn't work, then i would seek another method. maybe see if one of the local clubs in your area has a nudibranch or two, or see if there are members in the club that have the same problem. the problem with the nudibranch, velvet nudibranch i believe is the one you want (don't quote me on that though), the problem is they only eat FW's, so when the supply of FW's runs out they die, and release toxins into the tank. sometimes reef clubs have a few community nudi's that they pass around to people that have FW problems. HTH

The stuff didn't do a damn thing to my flatworms at 4x the dose. If anything, they were immobilized for a few hours. I am very disappointed witht Salifert. I heard such good things.
