Podcasts

I ran into this site just the other day and it might be one of the coolest things ever. Every week a guy by the name of Rob does these "Podcasts" about Saltwater aquariums and issues dealing with them and such. There a a couple on filtration and lots on other topics. He also has fragging video's and other multimedia on the site. It's really been a help for me as i travel from school to home ever weekend which takes about an hour and a half. So i download about 10 episodes before i leave and i listen to them on the way home and on the way back up to school. They are very educational and like i said i listen to them in the car so i'm getting educated while i drive. It's really cool and you should check it out. The website is

love that website, great info.

also check out www.reefcast.com

Melev and Quicksilver run that one, a bit more raw than talkingreef but all in all an entertaining listen.

I don't have any video, but in the Photography section of the Hidden Treasure page on my site, both MACNA links have plenty of images of fragging corals you can refer to.

Hey Chris, nice site. I'll be sure to mention it in the next Reefcast. What video editing software did you use for the refractometer presentation?

For all of them I've used Final Cut Pro on a Mac. It's hard to film yourself though. It's much easier when I'm behind the camera for the tank tour ones. I've got a lapel mic now. So my audio should be better.

Don't worry, it will be up soon. Thanks for the nice compliment, btw. As you'll find out, the last episode was such a train wreck, we are re-doing it. There was a girl, too much alcohol, and - 'nuff said.

Be sure to listen to the end of the show, as Evan likes to tack on bloopers when worthy. I doubt this episode will be any different.

Rob and I will be discussing Goniopora (aka Flowerpot coral) in the April 6th TalkingReef program.

I admire the amount of work he has put into the whole "Talking Reef" concept; not to mention the consistency of his weekly program releases.

LOL

Is that a shot at me? I agree though, thanks for the consistency Rob

No but really sorry for the delay, my grandmother died and things were nuts for a while. We are back with the program now and Reefcast will be coming out more often again.

Hey, thanks for the www.reefvideo.com mention on your show Quicksilver! I've got a plug for you on my home page too eh?

Not that it matters, but my site is flash 6 not flash 8.

Sorry, I have no clue who you are ( ), no shot intended. Actually, I was just keeping in line with the original thread post, I admire the amount of work and dedication he has put into the creation of "Talking Reef" over the past year (41 episodes) and am honoured to be on the show. I believe Rob has a full time job and a family too.

If I didn't know any better, I would say that this thread has been hijacked with "Reefcast" plugs and announcements.......... so here we go again with another bump.

Here's another podcast that I think is relevent. It's actually for Scuba Divers, but great video footage of a lot of the creatures we keep in our tanks. I reccomend the podcast version but they have a website too.

This particular episode is great - http://divefilm.com/dive_films/indexB.html

No, you can use your computer like I do. All you are doing is downloading mp3 files, just like music. If you go to itunes.com, you can download their browser. Once that is done, you just navigate to the "podcasts" section, then type in what you are seeking. It's that easy, and it's free.
