Oceanic Tanks
Hi,
Can someone tell me the price of an Oceanic 75 gallon RR, and a 125 RR? I am wondering if I should just skip out on the cheap All-glass tank... |

Hello
I have both... Oceanic 75 RR was $399.00 in 1999 and the Oceanic 125 RR was $450.00 in 2001. It had a scratch in one panel, hence the low price.

Depends on the tank, most of them have tempered bottoms. My 58 had a tempered bottom, so I drilled the back.

Do they only have tempered bottoms though? I could get the reef ready 75 with the holes for the overflow already drilled, but I would want to drill holes in the back for a closed loop...

remember, texas folk get a a better deal b/c oceanic are made there.
the best prices i could find in the northeast were at: thatfishplace.com elmersaquarium.com so anything thats close is good for me, which is roughly $320. !!very important fact that many people overlook when pricing aga and oceanic!! oceanics come with the plumbing for the overflow, aga's do not. and they usually cost another $50 or so making the difference just a few bucks. for example (taken from elmers good pricing): aga reef ready $220+plumbing kit $50= $270 oceanic reef ready $320+plumbing $free= $320 for $50 its an easy choice. anyone who has ever seen an oceanic or aga side by side would say the same. $50 in this hobby is not pennies, but the lint in our pockets, its just nothing. youll spend more in gas on a few trips to your lfs. but its worth tons as the point of a fish tank is to look at it! so unless you like the aga better theres just no good reason not to get the oceanic. hff |

That's exactly what I wanted to know...Thanks!
I am just hoping now that the sides are not tempered on the Oceanic tanks. |

So is the glass supposed to better or something?
Did I miss something? If the AGA w/plumbing is $50 less (which it's not here) why would I get the oceanic unless there was something better about it? I got my 125AGA for $300 plus worked out the megaflows for $40 each ($380 out the door)...

Just the bottom. The tank would be twice as much if made with all tempered.

the AGA plumbing for the overflow sucks in my opinion...i just got the standard durso in mine...i got it after returning the original megaflow plumbing.
dont get me wrong - i love the megaflow tank - just not the plumbing that they give ya

Does the oceanic have better glass than the AGA? Maybe it has low iron type glass that the AGA doesn't have?

These are the differences I know about (not exhaustive list!):
-thicker glass (1/2" thick on those sizes I think) -beveled edges (AGA edges are sharp!) -silicone under lip of tank to prevent salt creep These were explained to me when I was choosing my 120 RR at the LFS. I went with the oceanic because it had nice custom corner overflows in it.
