Paint Fumes Make Skimmer Go Nuts?
I have a 4 week old euroreef cs180. The first week it was fine. The next week I used some coral epoxy and the skimmer went nuts. After 2 weeks and adding carbon it is working again and its been 4 days with good skimming. I came home this eve only to find that the skimmer is going nuts again. I am having the inside of my home painted and is it possible that the paint fumes would cause this? I did not add anything to the tank. Anyone have this problem? Thanks

Yes it could be possible. Most skimmers are super sensitive. Try sticking your hand in the main tank and then checking your skimmer. It only takes a few seconds for the skimmer to go flat, so you know they are sensitive. I would try to vent the room your tank is in really well.

Painting your house will make your skimmer go nuts. I painted over the summer and the skimmer overflowed. Turned it off until I was done painting for the day, opened some windows, ran carbon, all was fine a few hours later.
