Maroon Clown pair with a third maroon
Ok....
My wife bought me a Yellowstripe Maroon Clownfish pair for my birthday last year... One is about 3 inches in length and the other is about an inch... I am assuming the 1 inch is the male but not sure.... These two guys get along great and are in my 75 gallon frag tank.... So the other day I bought another Yellowstripe Maroon clownfish that is about 3 1/2"'s And also put it in the tank... Now for safety reasons I put up a divider to keep the clowns separated... Only problem is the 1" clown is able to slip back and forth and is now spending time with the new clown... I can't remember for sure... But I believe the clown I just bought was with another clown of smaller size.... Have to check with the seller but he is out of town.... So should I make so the little fella cant go back and forth or???? Thanks Dave

ummmm no you should get rid of the new maroon you just got.. the female is larger and the male is smaller.. as soon as you let the new big maroon go they WILL fight until one is dead.. if you already had a pair why would you get another to put in the same tank?? these are probably the most aggressive of the clownfish period.. also what might happen is the old female may kill the male just due to the presence of another maroon, or just break up the pair..

Yeah ...what it is is that you now have two females and only one male .. this is going to end badly and maybe w/ more than one loss... I would find another home in one of your other tanks for the new clown .... There is a great book on
Clowns written by Joyce D. Wilkerson "Clownfishes" ....

yeah you are headed down a bad road buddy. How long before the new maroon has it's own home? sooner the better. If you have the room maybe keep it in a 10 gal til it's permanent home is done.

Update to the three clowns...
I had separated the pair ow clowns from the third... The other day I went down stairs to feed them and noticed the bigger clown from the pair had crossed over.... I have since removed the egg crate and all three clowns are getting along fine.... So now I am wondering if I really had a mated pair....

99% chance one of them will be killed eventually. Remove one of the larger.
