M80 Dual Ballasts

How many amps do these guys actually consume when starting & running 250w bulbs? I've seen a few different answers, but if someone knew for sure it would be of great help to me

an Advance M80 ballast run on 120V uses 290W. slightly more during startup.

Someone told me it used 5.x amps PER BULB. I just about fell off my chair.

The maximum amp draw is 5.50 amps. The ballast should only draw 5.5 amps when the lamp is not operating. Like when the lamp restarts or if the lamp has failed to light.

Operating draw is approximately 2.60 amps.

These numbers are from the manufacturer.
