I've read conflicting things about LR -- Putting it on the bottom of the tank and filling around it with sand; putting the LR on top of the sandbed; and putting the LR on top of some PVC stuff (eggcrate, cut up pvc pipe). The PVC route sounds good to me because it sounds like it would expose more surface area of the LR for improved biological filtration, but I wonder about eggcrate or PVC causing dead spots where hydrogen sulfide could build up? Any opinions on this? Also, if using PVC, how exactly is that done? Do you build a structure out of pipe and drill holes in it?
Thanks, Jack |

I have 2 pvc pipes going under my live rock only cause I have an eel. I drilled holes in mine for more water flow, you could also point a powerhead towards the area with little or no flow. If your using the pvc to stack ur live rock on you can make 3d cubes with half inch pipe. then just the rock to hide it.
