No Skimmate - What Gives?
Howdy! My system (29gal display with 20 gal sump with refug, 40lbs of LR, low bioload of 3 fish) has been setup, broken down and moved 3 times in almost 3 years. Currently, the tank has been setup for 2 months, and with the move, I expect some sort of tank cycling to occur in about a month. Now after 2 months, I've been waiting for my skimmer(AquaC EV120, a little big- but a new 65 setup is in the works) to kick in and nothing - maybe a little foam over the surface of the water, but nothing in the column. What's going on? I've read that even a tank of LR should produce a cup of skimmate per week. Is it still too early for skimmate to be produced? I'm running it with the recommened pump(Mag5) and the hosing to connect the 2 is only 1.5ft, the air intake switch is open fully(with the switch in the down position), and the skimmer is level. Would anyone have any suggestions? Thanks NBL
