Tang Police Question
I have an established 58G RR tank with a 20G sump. Currently have various lps, sps, softies, 2 clams, and 2 small clowns. MY lfs has a small yellow tang about 1.5 inches. My wife really wants him. I like the tang but want him more for the reason that this is the first interest that my wife has shown in the tank. It may help me get her over from the dark side! Thoughts?

Definetly go for it. Tangs are a good fish to have for algae control, and are personable.

IMO buying tangs less than ~ 3" is a bad idea as they usualy do worse than larger, but still juvenile, fish. I would want at least a 75 to keep a yellow tang in.

Personally, I would skip it.
I tried to have a Kole Tang in my 58 ... but IMO it seemed stressed and never really thrived. Didn't last a year, something I now regret. Maybe I'm generalizing from one experience - but for an active fish like this 3' is not very far. Given our fish can live for years, if not over a decade - I guess getting a fish that you can only house for a limited period is something I avoid now. That never seems to work out exactly as first planned, at least for me. Not sure what to suggest as replacement fish to your wife ... though probably could throw out some ideas. Just my opinion, my experience. Mileage may vary.
