ASM G3 Skimmer

Hi, I am deciding weather or not to order a G3 Skimmer today to repleace my Turboflotor 1000. I have a 72 Gallon Tank with 7 fish. Also I will be putting many SPS in there when the time comes. Do you think the G3 is powerful enough for the 72g? Also, I would love to hear how it performs.

Thanks.

I got a g3 about 3 months ago for my 80 gallon and love it. I've tried aqua C, red sea berlin and cpr skimmers and the g3 out preforms them all.

You wont be sorry, it's a great unit and I think it is made to handle up to 180 Gal systems, so you are really in overkill territory. Just make sure your sump is big enough to handle it, please double check you available sump area before ordering any internal skimmer.

That is cutting it close if you plan on having a fuge in the same sump.

I am running a 40 breeder with a intake section (which houses the skimmer), three baffles 2" apart so I can clean them more easily, a return section and a pretty decent sized fuge.

My skimmer has the gate valve mod and the recirc mod. As far as I know both add a little size to the unit.

:edit:
I just saw that you already have a fuge in the sump. I am going to guess that you don't have enough room for the G3.

Measure your space and contact the guys at asm skimmer I am sure that they can help.

The footprint is 9.5 inches X 12 inches. I have a 30 tall for a sump and it was a tight fit. It's acyrlic so I had to cut most of the bracing off the top to fit it in.

Width: 6.5 inches
Height: 23.5 inches
Footprint: 9.5 inches X 12 inches
This is from asm's website. As long as your sump at least 11 wide it should fit.

It will fit in a 20 gal long. My G3 is in a 20 long. I upgraded from a ER RS6-1 to the G3 and have been very happy.
