Painting an intake tube black - is it OK to do?
I've got a Rena Canister filter. Intake tube that goes in the tank is light grey and looks goofy against black background. Can I spraypaint it black without concern about chemical toxins to fish?
Any type of paint in particular? Thanks. |

To simply put it.... No..
Paint in the water will be toxic to fish. Unless you want to take the time and money to get marine grade fiberglass gel epoxy based paint. Then you can paint it. wait for it to dry (72 hours), and soak in for a day in a 50/50 mixture of water vinager. rinse well and use. Cheaper and easier way. Visit your local plastics dealer and get a piece of black acrylite to replace that with. It will be alot cheaper as the paint I talked about earlier is about $80-$120/gal. I have never tried that, but was told it works.
