Current USA recall
aquapod 12 gallon exchange programImportant Safety Recall InformationAquapod 12 Gallon Model #7050 Product Exchange Program.
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Current USA, Inc. is voluntarily recalling Aquapod 12 gallon aquarium systems (Model #7050) that were sold in the USA from December 2005 through January 2006. These aquariums were imported from China. The affected Aquapod aquariums could have a potential electrical risk resulting in the inability to independently operate each lamp. In the event the user plugs only one of the two power cords into an AC outlet, it may energize the remaining cord and present an electrical hazard resulting in shock. Current USA has received six consumer reports of these lighting systems not working correctly. If you have a recalled Aquapod, please stop using it and order a replacement tank or repair kit immediately. This recall only affects Model #7050 with no serial number, other models including current Models #7051 & #7052 are not affected.Current USA has initiated a domestic exchange program and will provide eligible customers with a new Aquapod 12 gallon system or an Aquapod 12-gallon Repair Kit, free of charge through their local retailer. The recalled Aquapod systems include those with no serial number. To view the serial number, open the lid and locate the serial number located on the bottom left corner of the light reflector. The serial number is printed in black numbers. Note: If your Aquapod 12 gallon system does have a serial number, you do not have to exchange it. This recall does not affect other models.Pet stores nationwide, catalogers and online retailers sold the Aquapod tanks from December 2005 to January 2006 for a suggested retail of US$240. If you have recently purchased an Aquapod, please check the outside box and locate the serial number next to the barcode. If a serial number exists, it is unaffected by this recall.Consumers should stop using the recalled Aquapod aquarium and contact their dealer for a replacement tank or repair kit. For more information, consumers should call Current USA Inc. at (866) 276-8872 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. PST Monday through Friday. no worries, I hope that my "luck" doesn't run out with my dual satellites!
I still think it is not fair to rip their 'entire pc line'. I have 'boughten' much as well, except unlike you I have had great success. cheers

I work at a small LFS and we've never had any complaints. I've used several of their fixtures over the years and not a problem yet...

lol yeah whats not from china?. This country amongst plenty of other rely heavily on china for import and construction of thousands of products. The bottom line is... you buy American, you pay top dollars but even then quality isnt assured, You buy Chinese you pay less, you still risk buying poor quality, and your supporting china's ever growing economy. I bet the clothes your wearing at this moment was produced some where in a sweat shop in china. So sad

I own 2 Current USA PC light hoods...never had a problem out of mine either.
Maybe there is too much humidity in Beaufort. I know my sister always said the humidity was horrible when she lived there.

So what does Current USA suggest you do with all your stock in the meantime? Start over again after the thing is repaired?

What the hell kind of wiring would cause that? Are the bulbs wired in parallel with two power cords? I will be staying away from this company, their development team is obviously on crack.

As a dealer of theirs for several years on any warranty issues they are near impossible to get replacements.
I had to get the owner on the phone and he don't follow thru. I had to loan the customer a light pending the issue for 9 weeks. Now I still sell then on request but not recomendation Bob URL removed from sig Last edited by rbaker; 03/09/2006 at 03:37 PM. |
