lighting help for fuge?

what would the best spectrum of light for a refugium? on a refugium how many watts per gallon? thanks

6500k and above, i wouldnt worry about watts per gallon for a fuge unless its like 55g, i use a agro light for home depot rated a 6500k, was like 8 bucks HTH

Why above 6500K ?

i did some reasearch and i think i found it on melevs site, 6500k and below will grow undesirable algae, ill try and find the link

I just use the screw in fluorescent lights that they sell now. Got two 18W lights over a 10 gallon fuge, 24/7.

my cheto has doubled in size with in 2 week period just using this light got 2 of them on there.my qualerpa is doing good under it aswell.

Thanks I have seen this link and I am using the bulbs 5100K that is recommended. I have not seen real great growth. I will switch to a higher K.
