Need advice on return pump...energy efficient
Hello, Im looking for a return and closed loop pump for my 400 gallon tank...I needed to know what the best pump for this application would be...Energy consuption is important so I would like a pump that doesnt draw much power....thanks in advance for any advice

This should help, it's a bit old but still valid for most models
http://reefs.org/library/pumps/ Check out the "MD Sequence" pumps they seem to be the most energy efficient per Gallon.

If your wallet is bottomless, the red dragon pumps are even more energy efficient.

Or a little more tword the budget minded check the Tunze return pumps - as energy efficient at a bit more reasonable cost (not sure if they're available yet.....soon though)

If your looking for energy efficient this is what I propose:
1) Direct feed all of your raw overflow water to a CC airstone driven skimmer 2) Run 1.5 tank volumes per hour through your sump/skimmer loop 3) Use a Blueline NS-800 as your return pump; you can expect around 750 gph @ 4' of head (which is perfect for a 400 gallon tank. OK, Ive decided to go with the sequence reeflo dart pump....does anyone know where I can get the best price??? So far Ive seen $215...
