Dead Yellow Watchman Goby in Quarantine =(
I bought these 3 guys all at once:
1 Black Velvet damsel 1 Yellow Watchman Goby 1 Sally Lightfoot All 3 are juveniles. I just found my new Yellow Watchman Goby being chewed up by the Sally Lightfood. This is on the 2nd day after I purchased them all. I put all 3 in the same quarantine tank, 10 gallons, which was filled with the display tank water and had an air stone & HOB filter with the filter sponge coming from display tank. I tested the water parameters after the goby death and they're all good: 1.026 Ph: 8.3 Nitrate: 18 Nitrite: 0 Ammonia: 0 I can’t figure out why the Watchman died. He was never chased by the Damsel and the Sally Lightfoot didn’t seem likely to be able to kill it- the claws are very small. Maybe the stress did him in, maybe he was too young to be transported. Is there anything I did that seems wrong or to have caused the death? |

Hard to say at this point. The goby might have had some disease or had too much stress. The crab might have been hungry, for that matter. The parameters seem fine, so I don't think those are an issue. I assume the temperature was reasonable?

Yes, temp is at 78.
I might just have to chalk it up to bad luck and see if the LFS can get me a replacement at cost. |

That sounds like a good plan.
