Advice for Sump Needed Please!

I am planning on using a 20 gallon long tank as a sump for my 50 Gallon long Coral/frag tank. Does anyone have any good links/pics for such a sump. How should it be setup--media to use, I will be using a protein skimmer but otherwise don't have an idea for a design. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

I've made two sumps with 20Ls. They work pretty well, especially for the money.

I like using the three chamber design. In this order:

Left Middle Right
DSB/Fuge Skimmer/heater Return Pump

Feed the center directly from the main tank then use a MJ400 or 600 to feed the DSB. The flow will then flow back through the skimmer area and into the return, along with all the extra directly from the center.

I have all of my flow going through my downdraft skimmer now. I like this alot. I get lots of nasty's and everything is filter everytime it goes down the pipe.

Aquaphile has one like this (used to be mine) and he is doing it like this. Ask him and see if he has any suggestions or improvments.

Steve

Thank you Steve for the Advice as I will be taking it as I construct the sump. Do you by chance have any pictures of yours?

You can check on the diy forum under lights and filtration, or a similiar title. I just built a sump with a 20g long, and got the diagram off one of those threads.

Paul posted some pictures of some sumps that he has built in a recent thread called, "DIY sump." You might want to look back at some of those designs.
