Coral having issues - Toadstool mushroom leather
This guy was doing great in my tank for two months. He's been a "trouble" specimen in the past (the guy who had him last couldn't get it to really extend), but seemed happy.
This week, it isn't extending/growing like it normally does in light. I've kept an eye on it during the night and day, but haven't seen anything major. I have seen some "flakes" coming off of the base, so I took it out for inspection. The back part of it appears to be cracking at the base. All my parameters are great, and all the rest of my population seems just fine (frogspawn, hammerhead, zoa, xenia, etc, etc). The damage: What it looks like now (rushed and at an angle, but you can see the left/back side is part where it's split): What it looked like a few weeks back:

Just saw your post concerning the Toadstool. I also have the tank for six months had a toad that was doing well and begaon to droop badly, get what appeared to be leasions. WQent to several others including a very good LFS. Water tests were good but the phosphate levels went up rather quickly for some reason. Did a water 10% water change, changed the media in my phosphate reactor and they seemed to perk up a bit...not back to where they were but a bit better
