Thumbs up Redone 75,went from SSB to starboard BB (PICS)

Okay heres a link to my first thread with all the reasons why I changed from SSB and cooked my L/R. http://reefcentral.com/forums/showth...hreadid=759471

The rock is cooked and the tank is back up and running.I dont have my new sump built yet but its coming and the new ASM skimmer so ignore all the crap hanging on the back of the tank

Looks great!

One suggestion - try not having all the rock at the same height. Give it some variation, hills and troughs.

Ya I thought about that after I attached all the frags.I figured I would leave space for the corals to fill in after some growth. In person for some reason it doesnt look as straight of an edge across the top of the rocks as it does in these pics. One thing I did from the previous aquascape was stack the rocks so they arent touching the glass anywhere. Before they were stacked against the back glass and not much water could flow back there.I also got rid of about 30 lbs of L/R from the first setup.I went with only large peices.

I agree though it kinda looks like a flat shelf across the top but I like the clean look and have gotten used to it.

Ah, I see. Yeah, often pics don't show things like this very well. How about a side shot showing how the rock doesn't lay against the back glass? That's a great way to do it. How deep (front to back) is the tank again?

How on earth did you manage to stack rock, not touching the back, yet still enough room in front for coral growth/and/or your arm in an 18" deep tank?

I'm interested because my tank too is 18" front to back. Thinking I'm going to do multiple pillars of rock threaded onto acrylic rods.

It was easy.I have pics for you like you wanted but my girlfreind has to download them from her camera first.I went with all large peices of rock around 12-14 inch peices and just stacked them.Stick around I'll post them soon.

Once the corals start to grow it may be a bit triky to clean the back glass but by then there should be enough coraline on there that I shouldnt have to clean it.

I agree...wouldn't worry about cleaning the back glass. So what do you plan to do with the bottom...just coraline? Or a coral ground cover of sorts?

Just Coaraline.I want to keep the front bottom as clear as I can so the flow pushes the crap and stuff under the rocks so it collects in the gap between the back glass and the edge of the starboard. It makes it easy to siphon the detritus out when it collects in that gap.The Starboard has been in for 6 weeks and is covered in spots of coraline already. It will be completley purple in a couple weeks at this rate.

Looks amazing Boat Racer! I just started coooking my rock today. I will be getting my 150g tomorrow.
I cannot wait to go BB!
I think I will be doing a spray bar along the back....any suggestions on this?

The spary bar idea is good.If you keep it moving under the rocks as much as you can that would realy help.Keep the rocks so that their not laying flat on the bottom.Try and use the rocks with leg like features for the bottom of the pile.
