T5 lighting on the way!
After reading so much about T5 lighting here, I researched for several days. I haven't taken the MH lights out of the box yet as I am waiting for my tank to cycle, so I figured if I was going to try the T5, now would be the time to do it.
Hopefully they will supply all I need. I got almost twice the wattage for about half the price, and replacement bulbs are far less expensive than MH. Chances are I won't need to purchase a chiller, either! If anyone has had negative experiences (I have heard only good things) please let me know while I still have time to cancel the order. I can only get store credit for the MH, but I doubt I will have a problem spending $1,000 once my tank finished its cycle! |

Congrats on your new lights...
I use a Tek T5 4-bulb on a 58g reef. My only issue (which I figure is normal) is when I buy a frag from someone they brown out for about a month then start to color up again. I don't really see it as a problem since most of the corals I buy came from being under MH and are just acclimating to the change. Good luck with your system Rich |

Thanks, Rich. I'm glad you told me about that happening. I have never had corals before and that would have frightened me! I hear that light stress requires acclimation whenever you move corals from one tank to another, but since I am going against conventional wisdom by not using MH, I would have assumed it was a lighting issue. I got 648 watts for my 120.
