New Instant Ocean water has dkh of 16! How is that?
I just tested my newly mixed Instant Ocean water before adding it to the tank. and this is what I got:
dkh: 16.2 CA: 420 PH: 7.95 Temp: 79 What is up with this! The salinity was 1.024. And I am using high quality Salifert test kits...my tank measured fine: dkh: 9.6 CA: 410 I am also using a recently calibrated Pinpoint PH Monitor so I know that PH is accurate as well. The salt was mixed 2 days ago into RO/DI water but I did add about 1/2 cup of extra salt about 45 minutes before these tests just to exactly match the salinity to my tanks. Any ideas why alk is so high? and PH so low for newly mixed water? Thanks

I would wait a day or so and test again since you added salt so soon before the test.
