Question about power heads how many what size

I setting up my 55gallon reef tank. I wanted to know how many power heads do I need. And how many gph should I get

Are you going to use a sump with a decent return pump? If so the amount of power heads and there size become a factor determining how many gallons the return pump is, what type of caorals you are going to house and the flow you want.

For a 55g tank, I'd want around 600 gph total circulation. I use Maxi-Jet powerheads, although powerheads are rather ugly.

For softies I concur with around 600 gph -- about 10-15X tank volume turned over per hour. A couple of powerheads in the back corners should do it...
