Water Temp

My water temp went from 80 degrees to 74 degrees last night due to a faulty heater. I had another one for back up in the tank but it didn't come on. I am now raising it. I am worried about the Fish getting ICK. I have 1 Yellow Tang, 2 Clowns, and 1 Lawnmower Blenny. Is there anything I can do to prevent this and if they do gt it what is the best thing to treat it? I have soft corals in the tank, plus Inverts.

just raise the temp slowly!!! think, 1 degree every two hours.

I'm guestimating that it took about 9 hours to drop six degrees. It isn't good, no doubt, but it isn't terrible. And a drop to 74 isn't terrible either.

Like willow said, just make sure you raise it slowly. You're fish will probably be fine. I would be more worried about your tang than anything else in your tank.

I had my do about the same thing once. My tang and flame got a touch of ick but it was gone in a day or so. If you have good water quality you should be fine.

I am most worried about the Tang. I have only one heater running in a 75 Gal. tank right now and I am bringing it up very slowly. What is the lowest temp I can raise it to? My VHO's raise it at least 2 degrees in the day time.

Question--The temperature of fish you purchase from Dr's Foster/Smith for example must drop more than that in transit--especial in the winter. Has anyone ever measured the temp when they receive fish through the mail. R

I have had Fish shipped before. Wish I had thought of that but didn't check the Temp. They use heat packs in the winter and seemed to be fairly warm.

Make all changes slowly if at all possible. Organisms can adjust to a wide range of survivable conditions if not hit too hard too fast.

Ammonia 0. No filters: lps tank. Alk and cal won't rise if mg is low. Current Tank Info: 105g AquaVim wedge, yellow tang, sailfin blenny,royal gramma, ocellaris clown pair, yellow watchman, 100 microceriths, 25 tiny hermits, a 4" conch, 1" nassarius, recovering from 2 year hiatus with daily water change of 10%.
