Cool Suprise
Well, last night when I got home from work I got the neatest surprise in my tank.
I have two clowns in my tank, they have been there from day one, the neighbor down the street bought them as tank raised ocellarius clowns, she brought them home to her husband and kids thinking they would be neat to have, problem was they did not have a saltwater tank at home. She showed up at my door with these two tiny little clowns and asked if I wanted them. Now mind you I had just set my tank up, it had been running about 24 hours but it was not where near ready for fish. I told her to take the m back where she got them, but it was 7 pm on Saturday night and the place that sold them to her was closed. So I reluctantly took them off her hands. Now here is it almost a year later and they are doing great, I had added an anemone in the tank about 3 months later for them to nest in but they never even bothered with it. Well guess what? You guessed it, they where both in the anemone and defending it fearsly, no other fish in the tank can even get close. I spent several hours watching them in the anemone last night and even after the light went out in the tank. I am hoping this is a sign of things to come (babies maybe?) Sorry for the long post but I just had to share. |

I skipped all my usual evening shows and just sat there and watched..... I even ate dinner in front of the tank. The biggest test was to see if they would stay there after the lights went out and they did... they were even still in there this morning when I left for work....

once they are in the will not leave. they will do alot less roaming also. now if it's on one side of the tank you can add another pair of a different kind to the other side. a skunk complex seems to work pretty well. I have ocellaris and allardi without incindence. had ocellaris and orange skunks and they barked at each other when I would feed but thats it.
I would also say babies are sure to come. they will start cleaning an area to lay eggs before and when you see them just staring at a rock or something you will know thats were it will be. |

Thanks Rob, it is down on one end of my tank (8 feet long). I figure I'll have to fire up the culture station again here soon.

One of the main reasons I got into the hobby was to get a clown to host in an anemone!
The two I got now, one hosts in my green carpet and the other hosts in the xenia right next to it (and goes in the carpet too)... It's very funny when he tries to feed his xenia a big piece of silverside and wonders why it wont take it! haha |

Not to hijack, but can anybody tell me why my first skunk clown who hosted in my anenome will not let the other skunk clown(which I bought for company for the first skunk) in his anenome? The second clown hosts in my xenia. What gives?
BTW-congratulations Dave. Sue |

I'm not sure how many of you remember this or not, but the anemone that is in the picture is the same small bleeched out anemone. It is now the size of a small plate....
Here is a pic. Here is a few months later: |
