green sarco, how uncommon?
Hi all,
I was wondering how uncommon this sarcophyton is? The only green leathers I ever see are the "Tyree LE" ones which just have green polyps. I got it as a small frag many years ago and have never fragged it till now. Pics under 250w 14k phoenix, no supplemental lighting. I am not ready to start selling frags yet, but what do you think is a fair price so I don't screw anybody (including myself...) I have been sort of out of the loop the last year or two from reefing and I am just starting to get back into it and stock up my tank more. Thanks! i personally think its beautiful. Dont see to many true green bodied/polyped leathers like that. Unfortunatly i have no clue as to what a fair price would be.

A lot of times, let the martket decide the value is a good idea. I'm not sure if it is rare, but I like it!
I will take a frag when you are ready to sell. So, put me in your list and let me know when. |

That little one looks like its worth $25-$30. I got a few 1.5 inch unopen frags from someone out of state for $30 shipped awhile ago.

Most of mine are green, however they dull out over time. Now, they only turn green when molested.

Is this the same thing??
I have something that looks similar to the green sarco. I also have a normal green leather. Is my green sarco the same thing?

Yea, looks the same to me, I can't tell from the picture if yours has fingers coming up out of the center, mine doesn't have the fingers. The other one with green-tipped polyps is different.

When you cut into the tissue was it pretty much the same color all the way through?

Gina - Cool, I am happy you like it.
gtrestoration - the tissue is tan underneath, as is the stem of the toadstool; the mother colony also got very unhappy when I fragged it and didn't open for quite a few days, it also got duller but the color is coming back now Wow, a lot of people want frags. Here is the current list. Ok, here is the waiting list: 1. super noob 2. fliger 3. foogoo 4. jaypainter24 5. sr71 6. ScotchMaster |
