quarantine tank, copper?

i was wondering if treating a new fish with copper even if it has no signs of disease or parasites is common practice. is it bad for the fish to do this? do you give it a full dose like recommended to treat ich or do you do a lesser amt? thanks in advance

for some fish copper is bad for them. I want to say this is the case with the hippo tangs but I'm not sure that is the right fish.

There is no reason to do this if they are not sick, putting fish in the quarantine tank will just stress them out and leave them open to infection.

no reason for copper without sickness, sorry I misread your post the first time and thought the question was about putting your fish in there from time to time for I-don't-know-what..... detox or something.
