I've had great luck with eunicea. completely photosynthetic.
Here are some small ones I'm groming right now. I used to have a huge one, then an emperor angel I was keeping started eating it so I gave it away. I got rid of the angel, and these are frags I got back from the original. ![]()

I had the pleasure of killing 2 really nice non-photosynthetic ones some 6 months back. Boy if I could have that money back and put them back in the ocean I certainly would.

I've had excellent success with what I believe to be Pterogorgia guadalupensis. Pieces I've accidentally broken off will grow after being stuck onto different rocks. Although, their growth rate is not constant, and I have yet to figure out what exactly spurs their growth, or decreases it. I have a couple night shots with the polyps EXTREMELY open...can post later.

I got a purple sea blade that is doing great. Had it for about 3 months and its growing good. Its polyps are always out during the day and close at night.

It depends what kind it is some are more dependent than others. Any MHs should be fine. They should be feed phyto as well I dont spot feed mine just dose the tank with DTs.

Mine is at the bottomof a 210, directly below a 250 MH. I don't know if that much light would be essential, but that's where mine is, more out of aquascaping design, than any other reason.
