Teflon Tape use

Which direction is best to wrap the tape? How thick or amount of layers should be used?

I wrap it clockwise, and do about 2 to 3 layers. always worked so far.

Yup. It should be wrapped the same direction as you would turn the nut or fitting that you're trying to seal. Wrapped the other direction, it'll actually get scraped off as you tighten the joint.
