new freshwater fish, sheatfish, and plans for a fishroom
Hi, I was going to get my braces tightened ... well we had 30 minutes to spare so I walked into a southern ag. (they usually have your real common fish) it was the one scott (at AO) worked at when they had cool rare fish....
well I walked up to a tank labled "gulper catfish" and it was a batch of sun cats... and in the front was a sheatfish... well I have wanted a sheatfish for a LONG time... they have always been in my top 3 favorite fish... well she bagged it up for $6.99.... it is about 5" (off the top of my head) he is active and was swimming in the current at southern ag... well I don't know the i.d but I think it is either a Ompok bimaculatus or ompok pabda (maybe doubt it though) Wallago maculatus (or some other wallago sp.) the reason I am doubting the ompok is because it has different color and has some nasty teeth , either way I like all sheatfish ... sorry the pics are blurry the camera is messing up..... don't you love it when lfs mark fish wrong they are in the family siluridae and are related to the infamous giant of freshwater the european wels catfish.... they get 16ft long and over 700lbs... one ate a kid swimming in a river a couple of years ago... they (all siluridae) live in Eurasia... here is a wels... all siluridae have just one long anal fin and here is my guy... well the plans for the fish house is we are going to put a wall over a section of the garage that is 10*30 ft... will post updates... and a favor, in the upcoming omas meeting I was wondering if people would introduce themselvers, talk, or shake hands with my brother because he doesn't know how to "break the ice" if you know what I mean and gets somewhat sad when nobody talks to him... if you know what I mean..... oh and scott (the one at AO) do you remember a lady that gave you the blue crawdads? well she is also on a site I am on (monsterfishkeepers.com) the arrow in the pic is part of a decal they make and hand out... well we have been talking for a while and she likes you and your store oh and we are going to set up a 75 salt when the fish room is set up.... we were thinking about the 180 but we don't have the time or money to set that up salt.... finally after what... 8 months we set up another salt shane.......... That's cool man. What you'll need is a green house with a pond and a large underwater window. That'd be awesome.
