I just purchased a Aqua C180. Dont have it up yet. I was considering MRC protein skimmer but have heard they a somewhat loud and since my tank is going into my bedroom, I didnt want to hear it. Also the MRC needs a very strong pump especially the MR4. It works best with an ext pump. HTH

I dont like the big power hungry pumps you need to run them, JMO.

I have a EV240, with a mag 18 on it and it performs excellent. It's a very quiet running, foam producing machine.

I had a EV180 with an Iwaki running it. Ran ok but it was fussy. even a small piece of debris would glog the spry foam nozzle and the Iwaki was very power hungry. it was quiet but it never did a REALLY good job of keeping the tank clean.

I've got an EV180. Probably the best skimmer I've had yet. Much more productive than my old ASM.

I wouldn't reccomend it if you're going to be doing some heavy feeding. It cuts out for 2+ hours after feeding. Luckily my tank just gets flake once a day. If you're constantly sticking your hands in the tank and/or feeding you'll be disappointed.

Oh, and mine works brilliantly with the "stock" MAG7.
